こちらで芹洋子による「坊がつる讃歌」が聴けます
1.   人みな花に　酔うときも  残雪恋し　山に入り 涙を流す　山男 雪解(ゆきげ)の水に　春を知る	1. When everyone else is charmed by the beauty of flowers Your feet lead you to the mountains, where the snow still glitters And you, mountain-climbing men, are moved to tears by its beauty And the rivulets there let you know that spring will soon be with you
2.   ミヤマキリシマ　咲き誇り 山くれないに　大船（たいせん）の 峰を仰ぎて　山男 花の情けを　知る者ぞ	2. Banks of wild Azaleas are now in full bloom and at their best Dying Taisen Mountain a deep, purplish red And you, mountain-climbing men, look up at the mountain top And you will surely feel that life is sweet as a mountain-flowers' heart
3.　 四面（しめん）山なる　坊がつる　 夏はキャンプの　火を囲み 夜空を仰ぐ　山男 無我（むが）を悟るは　この時ぞ	3. Surrounded by mountains on all sides is Bogatsuru At the height of summertime, as you sit around your campfires And you, mountain-climbing men, look up at the night sky And know that now is the time for you to attain perfect serenity of mind
4.　 出湯（いでゆ）の窓に　夜霧来て せせらぎに寝（ね）る　山宿（やまやど）に 一夜（ひとや）を憩（いこ）う　山男 星を仰ぎて　明日を待つ	4. When the windows of the hot-spring inn are wrapped in a night fog The cottage on the stream is also covered with a chilly veil And you, mountain-climbing men, stay the night and rest there And you look up at the night stars, waiting for tomorrow

平成18年（2006年）６月初旬、大学の私宛に、芹洋子さんの大ファンで、私の英訳した《四季の歌》を気に入っているという大阪府在住の一青年が手紙をくれ、その中で、同じく芹洋子さんが歌う《坊がつる讃歌》を是非英訳して欲しいと書いてくれました。匿名を詫びていましたが、同青年の「《四季の歌》を英語圏諸国との友好の歌に！　親日的な英語圏諸国の皆様にも、《四季の歌》と、日本の心を歌う芹洋子さんの歌声を！　《坊がつる讃歌》によって、日本に対する理解と友好を！」という結びの文句に感動し、同歌の英訳を試みた次第です。何とか仕上がりましたので、同青年の“熱き思い”に対して、それを進呈します。
