おどま 盆ぎり 盆ぎり 盆から先ゃ おらんど 盆が早(は)よ 来(く)りゃ 早よ もどる I'll be here until Bon comes But not after it ends The sooner the Bon Festival comes The sooner I can go home おどま 勧進(かんじん)勧進 あん人達ゃ よか衆(しゅ) よかしゃ よか帯 よか 着物(きもん) I'm as poor as a beggar But they are as rich as can be They wear gorgeous-looking obi-sashes And gorgeous-looking kimonos おどんが 打(う)っ死(ち)んだちゅうて だいが 泣(に)ゃて くりゅきゃ 裏の 松山 せみが 鳴く If I die, who would mourn and Sing a song of sorrow for me? In the pine grove at the back Only cicadas would sing せみじゃ ござんせぬ 妹で ござる 妹 泣くなよ 気に かかる No, it's not cicadas that are singing But my little sister back home Do not grieve for me, oh, my dear one Your grief weighs on my mind おどんが 打っ死んだば 道端(みちばた) 埋(い)けろ 通る 人毎(ご)ち 花 あぎゅう If I die unhappy Bury me by the roadside Passers-by may perhaps lay Some flowers for me 花は なんの花 つんつん 椿 水は 天から もらい 水 What flowers would they be? They'd be tsubaki camellias The water for them and me Would just fall from the sky 明日は 山越え どこまで 行こか 鳴くは 裏山 せみ ばかり Tomorrow I'm going over the mountain How far will I be going?
